Discover Günter Grass
The 60-minute tour takes you through both the permanent exhibition “Das ist Grass” (That's Grass) and the current special exhibition “Der Nobelpreisträger von nebenan: Grass und Lübeck” (The Nobel Prize winner next door: Grass and Lübeck).
The permanent exhibition provides insight into the life and work of Günter Grass (1927-2015). With his novel The Tin Drum, he shaped post-war literature. In 1999, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for his entire oeuvre. In addition to his writing, Grass was also active as a draftsman and sculptor. The Günter Grass House, where he maintained an office for many years, displays personal items, documents, and artistic works in conjunction with interactive media stations for all ages.
The special exhibition highlights Günter Grass's special connection to the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. The show presents Grass not only as an important writer and visual artist, but also as a neighbor who found his second home near Lübeck and set up his office at Glockengießerstraße 21 in 1995/96. Personal stories, private insights, and interactive stations bring the world-famous Lübeck resident to life as a person and an artist.
The ticket includes admission to the Günter Grass House.
